Our client is a thriving, family owned small animal practice based in South Wiltshire that has been providing a caring service to very loyal customers for over 20 years. The practice ethos is firmly based in the belief that effective pet care is very much a collaborative process between clients and the practice team.
As one of the last independents in the area, the practice is small enough to maintain family values that are reflected in the time taken to develop meaningful and lasting relationships with clients and patients alike.
An opportunity has arisen to play an instrumental part in the development and growth of the practice, working closely with the Practice Manager and Directors.
They are looking for an experienced veterinary nurse to join their passionate team as Head Nurse. Leading by example in a hands-on nursing capacity, you will be responsible for the management and development of a small team of veterinary nurses (VNs), along with the associated administrative tasks. Duties will include, but are not limited to:-
- Ensuring that day-to-day clinical activities run smoothly
- Handling insurance claims
- Arranging staff rotas & vets’ diaries
- Staff supervision, including 1-2-1s and participation in appraisals
- Overseeing nurse clinical training and development
- Ensuring Health & Safety compliance
The practice is looking for someone with a strong personality who is confident, proactive and well organised who will enhance the values and culture of the business through effective, collaborative leadership. Knowledge of the ‘Animana’ practice management system would be advantageous but is not essential.
This is a full-time position working 5 days a week (40 hours; 8 hour shifts between 8am and 8pm Mon-Fri) plus occasional Saturday mornings according to a rota planned well in advance.
The package includes:-
- A salary of circa £24,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
- CPD Allowance
- 29 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
Our client has a wonderful team of VNs and trainee VNs, who are devoted to care of patients and clients – they love their work and have great fun doing it. If you want a role that gives you active involvement in guiding our team and growing our practice, the autonomy to make day-to-day decisions to improve systems, processes and client engagement and the continuity of care, then this is the role for you! Please get in touch today and I would be delighted to discuss it with you.
